Common Hippopotamus at Selinda Reserve, Botswana

 


Not the best picture, but there it is, the Common Hippopotamus (Hippopotamus amphibius), often shortened to hippo (pl.: hippos), further qualified as the Nile Hippopotamus and River Hippopotamus. Actually there was two of them, but I was too slow to catch the picture.

I've never seen this species in nature, even though I was very close to them in South Africa, where I saw only their foot prints.
